A Big Sur restaurant is making a splash with YELPers in a new list out by the website for their “10 Outrageous Outdoor Dining Spots 2025.”
Wild Coast Sushi Bar was listed as number six on the list, and was the only Central Coast restaurant to make it, but not the only one from the state. The two other California restaurants include Anchored Eats on Folsom Lake (yes, on the lake!) and The Beachcomber at Crystal Cove.
The restaurant was described in the article as follows:
“An omakase experience at a glamping hideaway overlooking Big Sur? That’s the unexpected highlight of a visit to the popular Treebones Resort, located high above the Pacific Ocean off Highway 1. Overnight guests and day-tripping foodies flip for the exquisitely crafted 15-course tasting menus of “heavenly,” “hyper-fresh” sushi served in an open-air covered gallery (which the resort calls “The Dojo”). You’ll be treated to “breathtaking” views of the hillside and, if you time it right, an outstanding ocean sunset.
The “wizards” behind this unique restaurant are Chef Yancy Knapp and sous chef DJ, whose sushi and sashimi are “like a work of art.” Their simple menu features fan faves like Saigon Lettuce Wraps, fresh catches of the day, and “entertaining,” “educational” descriptions of each dish. “The fish melted in my mouth and there were flavor bombs in every bite,” says Yelp Elite Nick C. Famously intimate, the sushi bar offers just two seatings a night for eight lucky diners from March through November, so make reservations well in advance.”
