Ocean View Campsites in Big Sur

Walk-in campsites above the Pacific, offering a simple, scenic way to experience the coast.

Camping vs Glamping in Big Sur

Camping at Treebones offers a more traditional experience compared to our yurts and other accommodations. Guests bring their own tent and gear, creating a hands-on, self-sufficient stay. What makes it different from typical camping is the setting and access. With ocean views, thoughtfully spaced sites, and shared resort amenities, it offers a more comfortable and elevated way to experience camping along the California coast.

Helpful Information & FAQs

Camping at Treebones is a more traditional experience, with fewer built-in comforts than other accommodations. Guests are responsible for bringing their own setup, while the resort provides access to shared amenities and a uniquely scenic setting.

Do I need to bring my own tent and gear?

Yes. Campsites are a bring-your-own setup, so you will need to bring your own tent, bedding, and any camping essentials you prefer for your stay.

Are campfires allowed?

No. Open fires and campfires are not permitted due to fire risk. Guests are welcome to bring a small tabletop camp stove for cooking or dine at the resort.

Is there water at the campsites?

Yes. There is nearby access to water, though campsites do not have direct hookups. We recommend bringing what you need for convenience.

How far are restrooms and showers?

Heated restrooms and showers are located a short walk from the campsites.

Are campsites private?

Campsites are spaced to allow for a sense of openness and quiet, but they are not fully secluded. You will be able to see or hear other guests walking the paths at the resort.

Can I bring my dog?

No. Pets are not permitted at Treebones, including in the campsites.

What time do I need to arrive?

Campsite guests must arrive at least two hours before sunset to allow time to walk in and set up. Late check-ins are not permitted, and the Lodge closes at 10 pm.

Is this suitable for beginners?

Campsites are best suited for guests who are comfortable setting up their own tent and managing a simple camping experience. The setting is accessible, but it is still a self-sufficient stay.
