Cliffside yurts designed for comfort, connection, and a stay you’ll remember above the Pacific.
Circular yurts on private redwood decks above the Pacific — the stay that started it all.
Since 2004, the yurts have defined Treebones. Each features a king bed, polished wood floors, french doors, and a private redwood deck above the Pacific. Simple by intention, rich by experience — Big Sur glamping at its most authentic.
Canvas, wood, and ocean — nothing between you and the coast.

The yurt village sits along the most iconic stretch of the Treebones property.
Everything you need, in a space designed for comfort.
Staying in a yurt is different from staying in a traditional hotel, and that is part of what makes it memorable. You may hear the wind move through the canvas, the sound of waves below, or distant wildlife along the coast. The temperature inside the yurt naturally reflects the coastal environment, with heating provided for comfort. It is a quieter, more immersive way to experience Big Sur, where the surroundings become part of your stay.
Yes. Each yurt includes a heating source, warm bedding, and thoughtful design elements to keep you comfortable. Because yurts are tent-like structures, the interior temperature can reflect the coastal climate, so we recommend bringing layers.
Heated restrooms and showers are located at the lodge, about a one to three minute walk from the yurts depending on location.
Treebones is designed to be peaceful and relaxing, but yurts are not fully soundproof. You may hear natural elements like wind and ocean sounds, as well as light activity from nearby guests. Quiet hours are observed to maintain a restful environment for everyone.
There is no cell service at Treebones. WiFi is available at the Lodge for basic use like email and messaging. Many guests choose to take this opportunity to unplug and fully enjoy their surroundings.
We love animals, but pets are not permitted at Treebones.
Most yurts accommodate two guests. Two larger yurts are available for up to four guests and are best suited for small families. Family yurts include a fabric curtain to divide the room for added privacy. Children must be 13 or older.
No — most yurts are a short walk from the parking area. We recommend packing light and bringing a flashlight for evening walks. Guests needing assistance can call the front desk to request a pickup.
Treebones is designed as a quiet, intimate experience for couples, individuals, and small families. We are not able to accommodate large groups in order to preserve the atmosphere for all guests.
